When we chose Remy from a litter of mixed breed female puppies, approximately 8 weeks old, we had no real idea what her birthday might be. After a few vet visits, we decided to give her a proper birth date with our best educated guess. We chose Tax Day, April 15. Our sweet Remy girl is one year old!
Remy was Brian’s first real dog of his very own. He loves that puppy more than I think he loves me sometimes, and it makes me so happy to see him so happy. Cheeseball.
She is a total pill, has chewed up two of my Pottery Barn curtains and one large jute rug, AND has eaten all of the rubber door stoppers from each door in our house. She’s also a very good running partner, an excellent guard dog when UPS delivers packages, a clumsy sprinter, an avid hockey player with Brian (he shoots a tennis ball, she fetches), and a very lovable smoocher. I mean, she will lick your face. For several minutes.
Overall, it’s been wonderful having a little sister for our boy Harper (who will be turning seven in June!). He loves her, and tolerates her most of the time. Other times he looks at me like, “Please have her stop gnawing on my face, thanks. I’d like to get back to my Wall Street Journal”. Depends on the day.
I know good and well Remy can’t read this ode to our little girl puppy dooog, but we love her just the same. Happy first birthday Remy Ranger!
