We had a busy weekend, and took full advantage of the gorgeous (humid) weather. We were able to celebrate the marriage of our good friends, Matt and Elisa, at their St. Louis reception in Forest Park. Such good food (Pappy’s!) and a wonderful couple to share a Saturday afternoon with. We alsowent on to a genuine Cinco de Mayo party, complete with a Kenny Powers pinata. Kenny was nearly indestructable; it’s hard to top a party where the host has a “pinata guy” especially for these celebrations.
Sunday was a productive day, as they usually are. Brian and I took a trip to Sappington Garden Shop and picked up several flats of Petunias, herbs, Impatients, Salvia, and those neato mosquito repellants. I spent four hours outside gardening our backyard flower beds, and here is what they look like…which is a little sad because they looked really drenched after I watered them. But, they’re cheerful nonetheless:
Harper also got a bath on this warm, sunny day, and this is a picture of him patronizing me.
He smelled much better. If you look closely, you can see he has a mohawk down his back. He was not a fan.
He got over the bath a few hours later; can you tell? I don’t how he could be cuter while looking so snarky and perturbed:
I also made good progress inside the house and made some decisions about rugs, curtains and tables for the sitting room. I found these neat flowers below, and they are looking lovely on the dining room table. I hope they last a while. (Mom – what are these?)
For those curious about my Facebook deletion, it’s going quite well. I feel free of the nagging obligation to check my phone all the time, and I spent a lot of quality time with my husband, and a several friends at the very fun parties we attended this past weekend, facebook-free. It’s been something I don’t miss at all and I encourage you to do the same. It’s easy like Sunday morning.
I start a new job in a new department with my company tomorrow morning, so wish me luck! I’m sure I’ll have more to say on that after my first week….but overall I’m really excited and ready to start something new. Here I go!
